With the fast-paced lifestyle of modern individuals, the options for nightlife have become increasingly diverse. Many people find themselves in the predicament of staying up until the early hours of the morning only to have to wake up early the next day. In such situations, coffee emerges as the ultimate savior.
Caffeine possesses the power to swiftly alter one's state and invigorate the senses. Consequently, coffee has gained popularity worldwide, serving as a potent tool for people to rejuvenate their minds.
Beyond its revitalizing properties, the distinctive aroma of coffee contributes to its allure, making it an exceptional beverage. Artisanal coffee, in particular, offers a distinct charm and experience, allowing individuals to truly savor and appreciate the intricate flavors of this beloved beverage.
Artisanal coffee refers to coffee that is meticulously brewed by hand. Typically, it involves the use of coffee beans sourced from a single variety and origin, thereby eliminating the influence of other factors and accentuating the authentic taste of coffee.
Moreover, different types of coffee beans exhibit their own unique flavors, resulting in a more diverse range of tastes.
The method of brewing hand-crafted coffee was originally devised by Ms. Melita of Germany in the early 20th century.
While preparing coffee at home, she had a moment of inspiration and used her son's blotting paper as a makeshift filter paper for brewing coffee grounds. Inadvertently, she extracted a cup of coffee with a distinctive taste, unlike anything she had experienced before.
The allure of pour-over coffee lies in the sense of personal involvement in the brewing process. Unlike the simplicity of pressing a button and waiting for an automatic coffee machine to complete the task, pour-over coffee demands active participation as individuals pour water and observe the brewing process unfold.
This hands-on approach allows people to immerse themselves more deeply in the coffee-making process, fostering a sense of curiosity and a desire to explore the intricacies of coffee.
Furthermore, hand-brewed coffee offers a richer and more diverse range of flavors. Adjusting variables such as water temperature and brewing time according to personal preference allows for customization.
Different types of coffee beans combined with varying brewing parameters result in a multitude of coffee flavors. From indulgent chocolate notes to refreshing floral and fruity aromas, each cup of pour-over coffee offers a unique tasting experience.
The process of pouring coffee may seem simple, but it requires a certain level of skill and patience.
Firstly, one must select suitable coffee beans for hand brewing and grind them to an appropriate coarseness.
Next, place filter paper in the filter cup and add the ground coffee.
Then, slowly pour hot water into the filter cup, ensuring the coffee grounds are thoroughly saturated to produce a rich coffee extract.
Finally, pour the extracted coffee into a cup and relish in the distinct pleasure of a meticulously brewed pour-over coffee.
In addition to the aforementioned method, there are two other popular techniques for brewing hand-crafted coffee:
Stirring Method: This is the simplest way to brew coffee. Grind the coffee beans into powder using a grinder and place them in a conical filter paper. Begin by stirring with approximately 50 grams of hot water (91-94 degrees Celsius) for 30 seconds. Then, continue pouring water until the brewing process is completed after 2 minutes.
Drip Method: As the name suggests, the drip method involves gradually pouring hot water onto the ground coffee. This process resembles that of an hourglass.
Slowly drip the hot water onto the coffee grounds from the central position, allowing the coffee liquid to filter through gradually. While this method may be time-consuming, it results in the purest coffee flavor.
